8 tips for fine hair

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Eu Natural. All opinions are 100% mine.
tips for fine hair
My fine hair comes from my Dad. My freckles and fair skin are from his side too, so it's all good<3 I'm sharing 8 tips that I use to help keep my fine hair looking fabulous (including a sponsored item, Biotin-100% Vegetarian Capsules, which are free of gluten, wheat, dairy with zero fillers by Eu Natural.) These products/tips can help add volume, lessen split ends, breakage and fall out. I hope you try them and have fabulous results too!
8 Tips to make fine hair fabulous
1: Biotin supplements- I'm sponsoring two products for Eu Natural. It couldn't be better timing! Biotin, a water soluble B-vitamin, can help with brittle nails, hair loss, eyebrow, or lash loss, which can be biotin deficiency. Other signs include conjunctivitis, dermatitis, lethargy, depression, tingling or numb extremities and hallucination. I've been seeing commercials on television for this vitamin supplement. I just received Biotin 5000 MCG and Vibrance pure healthy hair formula multi vitamins both are 100% Vegetarian Capsules, Free of Gluten, Wheat, Dairy with Zero Fillers.
I'm super excited to try them both!

2: Gluten & Thyroid- I was diagnosed gluten intolerant in 2004. After I went gluten free, my hair volume improved tremendously, along with other health issues.  Auto-immune issues and low thyroid can effect hair growth, so have your Dr. check these to make sure your healthy:)

3: Hair color- hair color can add volume to your hair. Semi-permanent hair color adds the most volume. I read that gray hair is thinner and more fragile than our naturally colored hair.

4: Highlights-Add dimension and visual volume. Brunettes beware of achieving the platinum blonde highlight. I've found bringing my highlights up to platinum damages my hair. I get breakage and split ends. If I do go for the lightest blonde, I make sure to ask my stylist for just a few light foils! Also, the more expensive salon highlight products, seem to be able to achieve the blonde highlight, but without the damage! Follow my "beauty how to" board on Pinterest.

5: Ceramic coated flat iron and round brush- I'm a short-do girl, and a mini flat iron helps me achieve the smooth lift & style I like. You don't have to spend a fortune, but you do need to buy a flat iron with ceramic coated plates! You also need a ceramic coated round hair brush to blow dry your hair with! The difference is night and day!

6: Hair Gel- My hair is so fine, that styling products are almost all too heavy! However, I love Matrix: total results, heat resistant, blowout tamer works well. Apply to damp hair and then blow dry, for shine, control, heat protection, and great styling without being too heavy.

7: Hair Serum- Pantene AgeDefy advanced Thickening Treatment. I read about this one in a beauty magazine while I was waiting for an appointment. Supposedly the formula, containing caffeine, B3, and panthenol helps your hair become less brittle and more manageable. The directions state it takes time to achieve results. I bought some at my local market and gave it a whirl! Amazingly, after only a week I noticed less fall out and more volume!!!

8: Wheat protein, Epsom Salt mixed with Conditioner & Gentle Shampoo & Conditioner
Wheat protein is excellent for volume!!! Unfortunately, I'm allergic to wheat, so I don't use products containing wheat.
Gentle Shampoo & Conditioner-My hair stylist says using a variety of shampoos is healthy for your hair. And, certain shampoos and waters can wash away hair color rather quickly. There are many color extend formulas. I switch up my shampoos/conditioners.
Epsom Salt mixed with conditioner is supposed to be an excellent volumeizer for your hair. Check out this epsom salt tip on the Dr. Oz show. I bought some at the market but haven't tried this yet!

  1. Excellent post! My once thick hair has become extremely thin on top and stress levels were way too high. Color and highlights DO help! Doc gave me vitamins too (plus hormones rx, thyroid rx, suggested I dramatically decrease gluten/dairy/sugar in my diet, and increase walking and yoga). Handling stress better now and hoping hair gets thicker and healthier:)

    1. Thank you. I'm such a dummy, I just added my gluten story to the post! When I went gluten free my hair became much healthier. I also had more energy and some other health issues improved too! Yes, I've eliminated dairy and now I just have to get a handle on my sugar:) So glad you stopped by! Hugs

  3. Great tips for fine, damaged or aging hair! Thanks so much Michele! Just got highlights for the second time after 25 years to help disguise my 90% grey/white hair and so glad I did, as it does feel thicker and definitely looks like it has more volume. Should have done it sooner!

    Have a great day!

  4. I've got the opposite: very thick, coarse hair! Before you shoot me, let me just say thick hair has it's share of issues just like fine hair. I am constantly fighting the frizzies! I'm moving to Florida soon, and I am not looking forward to my hair in the humidity...

Thanks for sharing on Hump Day Happenings!

    1. My fine hair is super curly too, which I flat iron. My hair is like a barometer. I should just be grateful I haven't gone bald, lol! Have a great weekend!

  5. Great tips. I have the exact opposite of you. I have thick coarse hair that can be hard to handle as I have to blow dry in order to get it to look decent. I like the tip about using ceramic styling tools. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday. Have a great Friday and super weekend.

  6. Thanks for sharing these great tips. I inherited my fine hair from my mother and now it's thinning. As I'm getting older it's getting worse and worse and I have to creatively style my hair to give me the look of having more. I can say that Biotin does help a lot.

    1. I just have to remember to take the Biotin! When I went gluten free, and dairy free my hair got so much fuller! I've been eating dairy again and now it's thinning. I'm also starting to have joint pain again, so I'm gonna have to eliminate it. Oh well. It's been fun while it lasted!

  8. great tips!!! I will have to try out the Biotin and Epsom salt!! My hair is starting to get gray as well, but I fin coloring so time-consuming, so I decided to go natural.... It looks OK since I am blonde.... Have a happy week!! :)

    1. You know the Biotin seems to be helping! Haven't tried the epsom salt mixed equally with conditioner yet. Your supposed to use that instead of shampoo between shampoos!

  9. I have very fine thin hair and I do like highlighting my hair to give it some body but the sun and beach do tend to dry it out a lot too. Thanks for all these tips.

    1. Thanks for stopping over Julie! I've started conditioning my hair two days in a row and wash and condition every third day. I'm gf and probably not getting the right nutrition without bread. Seems the Biotin is helping with breakage and fall out!

  10. Great tips Michele - I have fine hair too and it's always driven me nuts! My two go to products are hairspray (sprayed in under the roots for support) and dry shampoo (amazing for just thickening things up).

Thanks for contributing to The Sunday Brunch Magazine!
