pretty chalk boards

Pretty chalk boards are super simple to make, using upcycled cabinet doors and picture frames! I found this oval frame at a local antique shop. I love the raised details. After I white washed the frame, my husband was sweet to cut an oval back board.
Changing up the messages on this 16 x 20 frame is fun. Before I made it pretty, it was red tagged at Kohls, glass missing, with chipped navy paint. I filled in the gaps with wood spackle, painted the frame white, and applied two coats of chalk board paint to the back board.
In this house........
My inspirational message was inspired by the barn-wood sign (shown below)!

    1. On the way back from the shore last weekend, we stopped at a flea market and one of the booths had super sweet chalk boards made from white kitchen cabinet doors of all sizes! Really cute. I see cabinet doors all the time at ikea in the scratch and dent area!

  11. So pretty! And how smart to use a frame without the glass for a chalkboard. I'm just so amazed at how creative people are.
