DIY chalk board table

(originally published on 9-3-14)
Chalkboard paint was just the trick for updating our kid's table.
Sweet Inspiration came from Stellar Junk.  Check out the awesome table she created to keep the kids busy at her sale.
Our table was a hand-me-down from my husband's childhood, that I refinished for our daughter, years ago. Last summer, I covered it to use on my patio.

Wow my staple gun really planted those staples! Love the wood grain underneath. I may have to strip the paint from the table top some day.

After removing the cover, you can see the sweet alphabet stencil I did, once upon a time:)

A light sanding to the legs for a shabby chic effect. A little more sanding on top, to help the new coat of paint adhere. Then two coats of chalk board paint on the top. The finished look is really cool!

This will be perfect as an art table, or snack table on my porch for the halloween trick-or-treaters!

  3. I've seen these round side tables at many thrift stores. Someone cut the legs short for kid use. Maybe my husband's mom:)

  10. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and adding yourself as a follower, I will return the sweet gesture.

What a busy person you are and I cannot believe you have a daughter old enough to be teaching! I am an artist, I hope you had a chance to look at my "Paintings" page on my blog, although my blog has now far extended beyond my art and more into my passion for interior design.

I am also fast becoming a lover of vintage as my mum sadly passed away in August and I am now having to go through all her possessions and have discovered some amazing things she has kept for over 60 years. If you go to this link: (you will have to copy and paste).

you will see some of the lovely things I discovered, for which I wrote a post.

Thank you again for visiting, I do hope you return
