HIS & HER Pillow Cases

diy his and her Valentine's Day pillowcases by Sew Sweet Vintage
HIS & HER pillowcases are the perfect project for
Valentine's Day!
(original post 2-6-13)

I created a set using fabric fuse and floral fabric. You can order a custom set of pillowcases in my Etsy shop Sewsweetvintageco
Fabric fuse is fun to work with. If your feeling crafty, follow my how-to guide below!
How-to

Iron fuse paper onto back side of fabric per box directions. After you fuse the paper to the back of the fabric by ironing, trace letters onto the fused paper side. Be sure your letters are backwards when tracing. The photo below shows stencil letters frontwards, just to spell the words HIS & HER:) I used stencil letters, but you could make your own letters!

You can just barely see the letter traced backwards below, because i used a pencil.

Cut out each letter and then remove/peel the paper away. I use the point of my seam ripper to help separate the paper from the fabric. The adhesive will remain on the fabric once you peel away the paper.
Lay letters adhesive side down onto your pillowcase. Measure and adjust as needed to center the letters.
Cover your letters with well dampened cotton cloth, and iron letters in place per box directions. I used scarp pillowcase fabric to cover when ironing. When the well dampened fabric is dry from ironing, it's the right amount of ironing! Covering the letters before ironing also keeps the iron from scorching the pillowcase.

My last step is machine stitching the edges of the letters for durability!
The finished result is super sweet.

Curious Doodles' embroidered pillowcases inspired my project.
My pillowcases were featured here:
